Here are some old antenna pics. They are 25 years old. I never saw anyone else use this idea to create large strong cages except a friend who imitated mine. It is deceptively simple and works great.
Those round shaped ones, like atoms, are electrician fish snake. They looked cool and worked well but were heavy.
The large aluminum cage worked great but the wire started out on a roll and it was hard to make it look nice and straight. A friend who sold welding supplies showed me aluminum welding rod which is pretty much 1/8-inch aluminum wire sold in super straight 3 foot lengths. I made two cages on the one antenna to compensate for the short wire and used that with great success for some time.
Looking back on the big cage it looks pretty good in fact. Maybe my next pickup.
